IAB RAMADAN
During Ramadan the Islamic Arts Biennale in Jeddah opened its doors after dark, from half past eight in the evening until three in the morning. The Diriyah Biennale Foundation’s invitation film moves through the canopies, the prayer and the galleries by night, and WithFeeling composed the original music.
THE CHALLENGE
The Islamic Arts Biennale, staged by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, is a landmark celebration of Islamic art, faith and craftsmanship that draws visitors from across the world. For a Ramadan moment the challenge is reverence with beauty: a sound contemplative and uplifting, honouring the spirit of the holy month and the depth of the art while feeling timeless, graceful and quietly moving.
THE APPROACH
The film has no voice, so the music carries the invitation: a contemplative theme built for the hour of the night, unhurried and warm, rising gently as the galleries fill and settling again for the details, dates and ticket link at the end.
THE RESULT
A piece that feels like the holy month and like the Biennale at once, reverent without being solemn.
