HQ by Rove
We were tasked by the wonderful team at Haus of Hendricks to craft a fun pop punk song for the launch of HQ by Rove! We whipped out our telecasters, turned the amp up to 11 and rocked out!
Structural Notes
- Intro (0:00 – 0:20)
Keep the opening instrumental energetic and playful — maybe a fast-strummed electric guitar riff with muted hits to build into the first lyric. - Verse 1 (0:20 – 0:46)
Great juxtaposition between the workaholic and the carefree:
You love your desk. I love my shades.
You chase the clock. I chase the rays.
You’re in the zone. I’m in my robe.
You lead the team. I lead the globe. Oh. Oh.
You do the grind. I do the glide.
You set the chairs. I flip the vibe.
Your desk is dusty. My lunch is sweet.
HQ is where the cool ones meet.
Tight and catchy — every line lands with rhythmic balance and personality. - Verse 2 (0:53 – 1:18)
Keep the flow similar but maybe add a subtle melodic lift:
You stress the task. I stress the tan.
You’re in a spreadsheet. I’m in the sand.
You have deadlines. I have days.
HQ is better in every way. - Bridge / Outro (1:18 – 1:34)
Keep this playful, almost like a carefree chant before the final chorus hit:
You bring a crown, I bring a tear.
Each stay, but I love it here.
You’re in the cubicle. I’m in the sun.
You book a meeting and I book some fun.
Production Direction
- Style: Blink-182 / Paramore-esque upbeat pop-punk — fun, confident, a little cheeky.
- Instrumentation:
- Palm-muted electric guitars
- Punchy drums with snare on 2 and 4
- Bass following guitar riff for drive
- Bright vocal tone, slightly doubled for attitude
- Tempo: Around 160–170 BPM (feels fast but danceable)
- Mood: “Rebel from the office,” tongue-in-cheek, catchy enough to make you smile.
