A PALACE FINDS ITS VOICE
The Red Palace has stood in Riyadh since the 1940s, first as a royal residence and then as the seat of government for the young Kingdom. Boutique Group, owned by the Public Investment Fund, is reopening it as an ultra luxury hotel. WithFeeling was appointed to give it a voice.
The result is a complete sonic identity built on one hero brand track, The Flow of True Majesty, with a family of sonic logos and cut downs that carry the same melody from a sixty second film down to a five second sting.
THE CHALLENGE
A building this significant does not need decorating. It needs recognising. The music had to sit beside a national landmark without competing with it, read as unmistakably Saudi in Riyadh and unmistakably luxurious everywhere else, and hold up across film, advertising, digital and the building itself.
There were three audiences to satisfy rather than one: the Boutique Group brand team, the group’s leadership, and the standards set by the Saudi Music Commission for music made in the Kingdom. Three tests, and all three had to pass.
THE APPROACH
We set the direction with the Boutique Group team in a workshop, then developed it through rounds of demos. We wrote the identity as a long form piece first and cut it down afterwards, so every short version carries the DNA of the whole rather than a fragment of it. The full arrangement moves through three chapters, Wonder and Anticipation, Quiet Majesty, and Dignified Pride, following the way a guest approaches the palace, arrives, and then belongs in it.
The instrumentation is half traditional and half orchestral by design. A Saudi duff and low organic percussion sit under elegant strings, classical piano and low cellos. The Arabic style violin was recorded live by a Saudi player rather than sampled, because the ornament in that performance is the part a listener hears as home.
THE RESULT
A full system, delivered ready to use: the hero brand track at two minutes nine, cut downs at sixty, thirty, fifteen and ten seconds, and a suite of sonic logos in seven characters, from full ensemble through strings and piano to violin solo, each at eleven and five seconds.
Every element is built from the same melody, so the palace sounds like itself whether you meet it in a film, on a phone, or standing in front of it. The Red Palace unveiled its new identity in August 2026 with the film below.
HEARD ON NATIONAL DAY
For Saudi National Day 2026, The Red Palace released a film that moves from archive photographs of the palace, and of the young Riyadh around it, to the building as it stands today, closing on The Red Palace and Boutique Group logos. The identity carries that journey in under forty seconds, which is the job it was written for: eight decades of history and a new chapter, held in the same melody.
