ZERO DEGREES ROOM: A SOUNDSCAPE FOR A SNOWY WONDERLAND
For Retail Abu Dhabi’s Winter Shopping Season, AVANTGARDE built the Zero Degrees Room at Mamsha Al Saadiyat: a cube of frost and falling snow in the heart of the city. WithFeeling created the sound that makes the winter feel real.
THE CHALLENGE
A snow room in Abu Dhabi is a promise you have to keep the moment visitors step inside. The visuals brought the frost; the room still needed the hush, sparkle and wonder of real winter, sound convincing enough to carry silent DJ nights, fashion shows and a season of pop-ups.
THE APPROACH
We scored the room like a show, cue by cue: a walk-in, a snow experience intro, the snowfall itself, light shows timed to 60 and 90 seconds, and an end sequence to send visitors back into the warm. Every cue was delivered as separate stems and full mixes, voice and music, ready for the operators to run live. And as the season rotated its retail takeovers, we re-versioned the entire soundtrack for each partner week, Dune London and Skechers among them, so every brand arrived to a winter of its own.
THE RESULT
The room became the campaign’s standout moment: part of a season that activated 23 malls, drew more than 18,000 visitors and helped drive 632 million dollars in consumer spend, with the sound of winter at its centre.
