When tasked with creating the original soundtrack for the Islamic Arts Biennale in Saudi, our team of experienced composers knew that it was essential to understand the needs and expectations of our conservative client and their audience. The Biennale celebrates cultural, intellectual, and artistic achievements that trace their origins to the House of Allah, Awwal Bait (“First House”).
We carefully crafted the 10-minute piece of music, ‘Awwal Bait’, utilising traditional instruments such as the oud and ney, recorded live, to create a rich and authentic sonic signature that was respectful to the culture and audience. To ensure the music could be used in various settings, we also created multiple cutdowns of the piece.
Our ability to understand and effectively execute the client’s needs resulted in a successful sonic branding exercise that was memorable for the visitors and respectful to the culture and clientele. Using the sonic signature, not only at the event itself but also on digital media created a consistent and enjoyable experience for the audience both on and off the site.
