Oxygen is a digital bank for the self-employed, and its film lets freelancers speak for themselves: an art director, a ride-share driver studying for exams, a copywriter, all on the freedom and the fear of working alone. Then the surprise, as the people who rely on them appear to say thank you. WithFeeling designed the sound.
THE CHALLENGE
Oxygen is a digital banking brand built for the self-employed and small businesses, reimagining everyday finance for a new generation of entrepreneurs. The challenge for a fintech challenger is trust with energy: a sound fresh, smart and optimistic, signalling innovation and momentum while feeling dependable enough to handle something as important as people’s money.
THE APPROACH
Documentary honesty was the brief, so the sound design stays out of the way: real rooms, a studio full of painted masks, the clutter of a working desk, and then the small sounds of the surprise, a door, a laugh, a long pause, mixed so the emotion arrives without anything announcing it.
THE RESULT
Ninety seconds that earn a tear rather than ask for one, and a bank that sounds like it understands the people it serves.
